The Washington County Tourist Development Council (TDC) are seeking applicants needed to fill Seat #5 for a full 4-year term ending September 30, 2029, Seat #4 for a residual term ending September 30, 2027, and Seat #6 for a residual term ending September 30, 2026. Seat #5 is designated for Tourism Industry or a Bed Tax Collector. Seat #4 and Seat #6 are designated as Bed Tax Collector seats only and must be a tourism business that collects the tax, such as a hotel/motel, RV or campground, bed & breakfast, or vacation rental. All seats on the Washington County TDC are unpaid volunteer positions.

Florida Statute 125.014, Tourist Development Tax, creates the TDC with members appointed by action of the Board of County Commissioners. Subparagraph (4) (e) establishes that the TDC shall consist of nine (9) members with a minimum of three and a maximum of four being bed tax collectors within the county; three must be elected officials nominated by their respective boards with one representing the county commission, one representing the largest municipality and one representing another municipality; and three members must be from industries involved with tourism and/or hospitality or some other direct connection with tourism. The normal term of appointment shall be four (4) years and terms are staggered so that no more than three seat terms expire in any year. All TDC members shall be electors (registered voters) within the county.
