The Board of County Commissioners has contracted Shelter Services with :

Animal Control of Northwest Florida, Inc.

effective October 1, 2005.

Washington County Animal Services will no longer operate a shelter. They will pick up

nuisance animals, vicious animals and animals that are a danger to the public. There will be no drop off services.

Emergencies:  If bitten or attacked by an animal, call the Sheriff's Department at (850) 638-6111 (Please do not call 9-1-1). The Animal Control Officer will be dispatched as quickly as possible.

Animal Control of Northwest Florida will offer an adoption program

Lost Pets:  Don't wait to report a missing pet. After five days in the animal shelter, the animal becomes the property of the shelter and is put up for adoption. Every effort is made to locate the owner if the pet is wearing a rabies or identification tag.
